2009 Student Ambassador Summit

National Summit Overview

The National Summit is a four-day event bringing Fuel Up to Play Student Ambassadors and Program Advisors together from across the nation to New York City! From the time they arrive in New York City, we will have activities, challenges, meetings, speakers and opportunities that will develop leadership capacity for making Fuel Up to Play successful.

Workshops and Sessions Preview

  • Tackle 3 Challenges on nutrition and fitness concepts
  • Meet and get to know other Student Ambassadors
  • Learn leadership and communication skills important for the Fuel Up to Play program and beyond
  • Learn fun and engaging methods of how to encourage classmates to eat healthy, get active and get involved
  • Share experiences and opinions to help shape the future of Fuel Up to Play
  • Meet with Fuel Up to Play leaders
  • Celebrate the Ambassador program with a culminating banquet

Special Activity Preview

  • Fitness activities in Central Park and local sites
  • Watch college football players be selected for national teams at the NFL Draft in Radio City Music Hall
  • Meet a special guest and leaders in nutrition and fitness
  • Experience New York City with some outings to walk around Times Square and some local attractions

National Summit Objectives

The purposes of the Ambassador Summit are to:

  1. Gain insight from participants about program elements
  2. Gain insight from program advisors
  3. Engage and excite participants in the importance of Fuel Up to Play
  4. Engage ambassadors as Fuel Up To Play leaders in their local areas
  5. Capture success and experiences to understand what is working and share out with others
  6. Provide social and networking time for Ambassadors and Advisors as leaders in Fuel Up to Play

 

After the National Summit, Student Ambassadors will:

  • Communicate with other co-Ambassadors on program progress throughout the year via e-mail, Web site, etc.
  • Promote Fuel Up to Play in your school or organization
  • Speak to classmates and School Team members about what you learn

  • NFL Clinic in Central Park

  • Early AM get together
